Adopt A Mile
Adopt-a-Mile is a cooperative partnership between the public/private sector and Pinellas County. It is a program that allows individuals and/or groups* to participate in community involvement through the “adoption” of a one mile section of county road. Participants agree to perform four cleanups a year to remove litter and debris. Road adoptions greatly enhance the appearance of our roads and go a long way to reducing the debris from entering our waterways and polluting the natural habitats of our native wildlife.
Florida Water Coalition
Join the Florida Water Coalition in the battle to stop toxic algae blooms in Florida waters. We all know the heartbreak of watching our favorite swimming and fishing holes go from invitingly clear to nauseating green slime. We know about polluted drinking water, which makes no sense in a watery paradise like Florida. It doesn’t have to be this way. This is not the inevitable price of progress – this pollution is preventable. Everyone knows it is cheaper to prevent pollution in the first place than it is to clean it up later.
Florida Coastal & Ocean Coalition
The Florida Coastal & Ocean Coalition is a group of organizations working together to conserve, protect and restore Florida’s coastal and marine environment. The Coalition emphasizes the implementation of an eco-system based approach to coastal and ocean management, as well as recognition of the important linkage between the health of Florida’s economy and the health of its beaches and dunes, coral reefs, mangroves, sea grasses, wetlands and other natural resources.
